SPORTS – LUMBERJACK – PLAY THE GAME – PART I

Lumberjack sport has very many different events under different names. Let us see all the lumberjack events

Log Rolling:

It is a team event. Two teams with 2 lumberjacks in each compete in this event. The organizers determine the size of the log. It should, however, be not extremely large. The goal of this event is to feel the log and understand it so that it becomes easy for the competitors to guide it through the allotted path.

The teams, one by one, roll the log through the allotted length of 40 Feet, hit the stakes, then return to the starting point and hit the stakes there. The team that does the rolling faster than the competitor is the winner.

Two Man Bucking:

It is again a team game and the teams start one by one. The ‘emcee’ (Master of Ceremonies) shouts, “GO” when the sawing starts and ends only when the “Disk” is totally separated. The competitors use a long crosscut saw – 6 Ft long. The log is fastened securely to a block whose top shall be between 30 to 36 inches from the ground level and the bottom of the block should be around 12+ inches from the ground. The team, which saws through the log faster, is the winner.

Jack and Jill Bucking:

It is almost the same as two man bucking except for the fact that it requires the participation of a male and female competitor.

Jill and Jill Bucking:
